On December 10, 2025, the United States announced that it had seized a sanctioned oil tanker — named the Skipper — in international waters off the coast of Venezuela. President Donald Trump described it as the “largest tanker ever seized,” signaling a sharp escalation in U.S. pressure on the Maduro government.
