Authorities in rural Ohio have rescued 16 children from what officials described as horrific and deeply unsanitary living conditions inside a deteriorating home in the village of Hamden. The children, all reportedly from the same family, ranged in age from about 18 months to 18 years old and were allegedly confined to a single room for much of the past four years.
