NATO's response : Eastern Flank Reinforcement

 

  • NATO has launched Eastern Sentry (or "Eastern Sentinel") starting ~12 September 2025, following violations of the airspace of Poland by Russian drones.   • Context: Zapad-2025 & Russian/Belarus Actions

    • The Russian-Belarusian exercise Zapad-2025 (12-16 Sept) is viewed by NATO and neighboring countries as a strategic pressure tool. Though declared defensive by Moscow and Minsk, its proximity to NATO borders, involvement of advanced missile and air assets, and the timing (just after drone incursions) make it a trigger for these counter-moves.
